Summer 2026 Tutoring Availability Now Open in Whitby and Across the GTA
Summer spots are filling up quickly. Whether your child needs to catch up, stay sharp, or get a head start on next year, our certified Ontario educators are ready — and availability is limited. Here is everything you need to know about summer tutoring with Dedicated Tutors.
The school year is wrapping up, and for many families across Whitby, Toronto, Oakville, Mississauga, and the wider GTA, summer feels like a well-earned break. But for students who struggled this year — or for those who want to arrive in September already ahead — summer is one of the most powerful academic opportunities of the year. Dedicated Tutors is now accepting bookings for the summer of 2026.
Why Summer Matters More Than Most Parents Realize
Research on the "summer slide" is clear: students who do not engage academically over the summer can lose two to three months of learning by the time September arrives. For French learners in particular, a summer without any French exposure can undo months of vocabulary, grammar, and oral confidence built during the school year.
This does not mean your child needs to spend their summer doing homework. Even one to two focused sessions per week is enough to maintain progress, address gaps, and build the kind of confidence that carries into the fall. The students who arrive at the first week of school having spent even a few hours refreshing their French or reviewing math concepts are consistently the ones who settle in faster, stress less, and perform better through the semester.
"In my fifteen-plus years working with students, the ones who do a little tutoring over the summer don't just maintain — they arrive in September ready to lead the class. It's one of the highest-return investments a family can make." — Kirsten Duncan-Thibault, OCT

Summer Formats — Flexible for Every Family
Group Online Tutoring
Our most popular summer format for French learners. Small groups of 2 to 4 students meet over secure video, guided by an Ontario Certified Teacher. Students benefit from peer conversation practice, shared energy, and a social learning dynamic that keeps motivation high during the summer months. This is also our most accessible price point — $40 to $55 per hour shared among the group.
Individual Online Tutoring
One-to-one sessions over secure video, scheduled at times that fit your summer. Ideal for targeted remediation, exam prep, or students who benefit from the undivided attention of a certified teacher. $55 to $70 per hour, depending on subject.
In-Home Tutoring
Available at select locations across Whitby and the GTA. Your tutor comes to you — great for younger students or families who prefer the structure of an in-person session. $70 to $85 per hour, depending on location and subject. Contact us to confirm availability in your area.
Who Should Consider Summer Tutoring
Summer tutoring is a strong fit for a wide range of students:
- Students who struggled in French this year — Gaps in French are cumulative. If your child ended Grade 5 French behind, they will start Grade 6 French behind. Summer is the ideal window to fill those gaps before they compound.
- Students transitioning to a new level — Moving from Grade 8 to Grade 9, or from elementary to middle school, brings new academic expectations. A few summer sessions build the confidence to walk into that first week ready.
- Students who want to get ahead — High-achieving students use summer to preview next year's curriculum, strengthen their weakest subject, or develop the academic habits that will serve them well into university.
- French Immersion families — Maintaining French over the summer is critical for immersion students. Even casual conversational French sessions with a certified tutor preserve fluency and prevent the September reset many families experience.
- Students preparing for standardized testing — Whether it is the OSSLT, an entrance exam, or a provincial assessment, summer allows focused, unhurried preparation without the pressure of the school year.

Limited Spots — How to Reserve Your Place
Summer availability is genuinely limited. Our tutors work with a small, manageable number of families to maintain the quality of every session, and popular time slots — weekday evenings and weekend mornings — fill up quickly once the school year ends.
To reserve your child's summer spot, book a free 30-minute consultation. During this call we will discuss your child's goals, identify the right format (individual, group online, or in-home), and confirm availability with the tutor who is the best match. There is no obligation and no long-term contract — we earn your continued trust through results.
If you are reading this in May or early June, now is the right time to reach out. Families who wait until July often find that the best spots are already taken.
